PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
Special thanks to all of our parents and volunteers who contributed to the
success of our Panther Prowl and Spring Festival! I enjoyed seeing so many
families enjoying time together at Chaires! Although the water was quite
chilly, I am proud to say that the dunk tank raised $250 for our "Chaires
Cares" Relay for Life Team this past Saturday. Wasn't the fifth grade
program marvelous? Be sure to take a careful look at the newly
revised "upcoming events" section of the newsletter this week. We have
changed the dates of the other programs scheduled in May. Also, if you
have a child in kindergarten or third grade, please be sure to contact Mrs.
Kilpatrick to see how you can assist for their upcoming performance.

CLIMATE SURVEY
It's the time of year when we seek input to see how we're doing at
Chaires. We would also like to focus on the areas where we can work to
improve the education and experiences that we provide for the children at
Chaires. This will be our second year offering the climate survey online.
Our third, fourth, and fifth graders as well as faculty and staff members
will complete the survey in the computer lab during school. We would LOVE
to have the input from the Chaires parents, as well!!
I would like to ask that ONLY PARENTS or GUARDIANS access the climate
survey. (I know that there are many other interested parties that receive
this newsletter via list serve, so we would truly appreciate your help in
making sure that our survey is completed by the parents of current Chaires
students.) Please complete the survey before 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April
27.
This is an anonymous survey. Since we are administering the survey in this
format (instead of paper/pencil), the results will be available
immediately. The survey results will be shared at our April School
Advisory Council Meeting scheduled for Monday, May 4th at 5:30 p.m. in the
Media Center. I would be glad to email the survey results to you if you
are unable to attend the meeting.
When you have a few moments, please use the following link in order to
access the annual climate survey in order to answer a few questions. Once
you begin, there is no way to save your answers mid-way through. You'll
need to complete it in one sitting. It should only take about 20 minutes
of your time.
NO PASSWORD IS NEEDED, just pull down to “Parent”, then pull down
to “Chaires” and click the “Submit” button in order to begin the survey.
When the survey has been completed, there is a homework pass that may be
given to your child’s teacher for a “no homework” day!

Thank you for your input!

MRS. MCCASKILL’S CORNER
Take our Sons and Daughters to Work day will by on Thursday, April 28th.
The guidelines for Leon County Schools allow elementary grades 3-5 to
participate. We must receive a pre-approved letter from the parent and/or
guardian indicating the student's participation by April 26th. This will
be considered an EXCUSED ABSENCE, and children will not qualify for perfect
attendance awards. The employee must provide the school with a written
statement on company letterhead verifying the student's attendance.

GROUP PICTURES/DATE CHANGE
We have had to change the picture date to Wednesday, April 27th. Photos
must be ordered and paid for on picture day. You may order more than one
if you desire. Picture envelopes can be returned on picture day. The cost
is $10.00 and checks are payable to Leonards. The pictures will be taken
outside on the playground. In case we have bad weather we will take them
in the Cafeteria on the stage.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION
Kindergarten Orientation for the upcoming school year (05/06) will be on
Tuesday, May 3rd at 8:00am. Orientation will begin in the cafeteria,
followed by a guided walk through the Kindergarten classrooms. We will
have registration packets available along with some other documentation you
can take with you. If you know someone who has a Kindergartener starting
in the fall, please let them know about this upcoming event.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Registration for 05/06 will begin the first week in May. At this time you
can pre-register your child for kindergarten by filling out the
