PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
I sure hope that I see everyone out at Spring Festival tomorrow. We've got
LOTS of fun, activity and food for the whole family. Please take a look
through your child's book bag to find a copy of the festival map. We are
excited to provide an area just for the "little ones" in front of the 700
building again this year. I would also like to take this opportunity to
emphasize physical fitness! Please join us for our second annual Panther
Prowl, one mile fun walk/run starting at 9:00 tomorrow. Finally, I have to
thank our sponsors! These sponsors have provided financial support to our
spring festival and PTO. Many thanks to Computer Tutors, Full Press
Apparel, George Hutchinson Engineering, Inc., Gregory A. Williams, D.O.,
Family Practice/Sports Medicine, Hoover Enterprises, LLC – Fence, Deck &
Floors, Jazzercise, Quality Construction, & Sam Stone Electrical
Contracting, LLC. We couldn't do it without you!

MRS. MCCASKILL’S CORNER
I hope you received student report cards on Wednesday this week. I'm proud
of the hard work our students continue to do throughout the school year.
We will be holding our honor roll celebrations on Thursday, April 14th, so
please plan to join us! Kindergarten and first grade will be recognized at
8:00 a.m., fourth and fifth grades at 8:45 a.m., and second and third grade
at 9:30. Not everyone makes the honor roll - it isn't easy, so we always
encourage students to set goals to do their best! This grading period, our
PTO is giving children a choice in their recognition item for honor roll!
In the past, we've done dog tags. This time around, students may choose
the dog tag or one of the following imprinted items: a mini frisbee, a
bracelet, or a jacket pull. Thanks, PTO! We appreciate your continued
support.

CHILD TO WORK DAY
Take our Sons and Daughters to Work day will by on Thursday, April 28th.
The guidelines for Leon County Schools allow elementary grades 3-5 to
participate. We must receive a pre-approved letter from the parent and/or
guardian indicating the student's participation by April 26th. This will
be considered an EXCUSED ABSENCE, and children will not qualify for perfect
attendance awards. The employee must provide the school with a written
statement on company letterhead verifying the student's attendance.

SUMMER READING SKILLS PROGRAMS
The University of West Florida will be offering summer reading skills
classes at Tallahassee Community College for all grade levels. Classes are
taught by professional instructors from the Institute of Reading
Development, which has been teaching these programs for the past 35 years.
For more information or to register call 1-800-978-9596 or visit our
website at ContinuingEd.uwf.edu/reading.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION
Kindergarten Orientation for the upcoming school year (05/06) will be on
Tuesday, May 3rd at 8:00am. Orientation will begin in the cafeteria,
followed by a guided walk through the Kindergarten classrooms. We will
have registration packets available along with some other documentation you
can take with you. If you know someone who has a Kindergartener starting
in the fall, please let them know about this upcoming event.

SCIENCE NEEDS
Ms. Koenig is in need of empty water bottles (16.9 oz) size. You can drop
them off in the front office any time.

BOOK FAIR
The Book Fair will be held the week of April 11th from 8:30am-1:30pm and
Tuesday night from 5:00pm-7:00pm in portable 174. If you are available to
volunteer please contact Julie Sander at 942-0312. Hope to see you there!

GROUP PICTURES/DATE CHANGE
We have had to change the picture date to Wednesday, April 27th. Photos
must be ordered and paid for on picture day. You may order more than one
if you desire. Picture envelopes can be returned on picture day. The cost
is $10.00 and checks are payable to Leonards. The pictures will be taken
outside on the playground. In case we have bad weather we will take them
in the Cafeteria on the stage.

ART NEWS
The art program is offering a special activity for Mother's Day. We will be
decorating 6" tiles with Majolica glaze. These tiles work great as hot
plates for your table, and make great gifts for everyone. We purchased 24
colors of glaze to decorate the tiles. The tiles cost .25 cents each and we
are asking the students to pay for the tiles if they wish to participate.
Please send the money on the day your child attends art class this next
week.

SUMMER CAMP
Come and join the Chaires Summer fun Camp for an exciting 10 weeks of
fieldtrips, special events, and weekly themes. We are accepting incoming
Kindergartener's through 5th graders. Call Cathy Davis at 922-2866 for
more information or to get a registration packet. Registration begins
today! Limited enrollment. First come, first served.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for these upcoming events!
