PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
Progress alerts were sent home with students on Tuesday this week.
Progress alerts are to let parents know how students are doing BEFORE the
report card grades. If you got an alert, please be sure to work with your
child and the teacher(s) so that your child's grades, behavior, study
habits and/or participation can improve! Thank you for your ongoing
support!
Next week we will only have school on Monday and Tuesday. We wish you all
a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Picture Retake Day-December 2nd
Leonard's will be here on December 2nd from 8:00am-12:00pm for picture
retakes. If your child was absent on October 13th they will need to have
their photo taken for the yearbook. If you had pictures taken and you do
not like them, send the packet to school with your child to hand to the
photographer at the sitting. These pictures are pre-paid and order forms
are available in the front office.

Holiday Shop
The Panther PTO will be offering the Holiday Shop again this year the week
of December 5-9 in the Guidance hallway. The shop will consist of many
inexpensive gifts your child can purchase for family members. More
information will be sent home the last week of November.

Thanksgiving can be healthy
Did you know that turkey is one of the most nutritious meats you can eat?
It has more protein and calcium, and less fat, calories, and sodium than
other meats. The white meat (without the skin) is the healthiest way to
enjoy turkey. If you like the other parts, just be sure to be careful how
much you have.

MCCASKILL'S CORNER
Parents, our DIBELS Assessment #2 will begin November 15, 2005 and will end
December 1, 2005. Our students continue to do a good job with following
our school rules. If you get an opportunity to come watch your child on
the morning announcements, please do so. They are great! “Enjoy the
journey as much as the destination.” Have a great weekend and enjoy your
Holidays with your family.

Student Council Food Drive
As we approach the season of caring and sharing, let us as Chaires Panthers
remember our many blessings -- family, friends and home. This year many
families will remember but will not be as fortunate as many of us will be.
Many storms have passed our way -- individually and collectively. Let
us "share because we care ". The Chaires Student Council is sponsoring a
Can Food Drive. They will be collecting non - perishable food items
beginning Thursday November 17th thru Tuesday November 22nd. The items will
be donated to a community organization. There are over 750 Chaires Panthers
and if every Panther brought in 1 item, the caring for others would be
overwhelming. Let's make it happen. Boxes will be in the Guidance hallway.

Lost and Found
If you have lost a jacket, or any clothing item, please have your child
check the rack in the cafeteria. We will be donating any items left after
December 14th to a local charity.

Bad Behavior Disrupts Learning For All
When kids misbehave in school, everyone suffers-not just the troublemaker.
That's what parents and teachers said in a recent study. Discipline
problems hurt teaching and learning, the research shows. Parents can help
by reviewing school rules at home. Talk with your child about how to
behave. Discuss what to do when classmates are disruptive. Let the
teacher know that she/he has your support.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for these upcoming events!
Please note that the items with an X indicate that we will be seeking
parent volunteers to assist us. If you are able to assist, please contact
the front office by calling 878-8534.
