Did you see your child's report card on Wednesday? If not, please search
that backpack. We had a great time celebrating student improvement and
success at our quarterly awards assemblies today. We have so many children
who are working very hard this year to do their best in behavior,
work/study skills, effort/participation, grades and attendance and it
really shows. Special thanks to the Chaires PTO who always help us
recognize our children by providing fun prizes! Also, I'd like to thank
our business partners Cici's Pizza, Publix Vineyard, Applebees, Taco Bell,
Longhorn Steakhouse, and Fazoli's who also provided certificates in
recognition for the children. We need your help to keep our children
working hard and learning every single day this year. Remind your child
that each day counts!
I appreciate your help getting your children to school on time each day. I
know that there is a bit more time travel involved this year with the four-
way stop, but remember that we begin supervising as early as 7:00 a.m.
It's important for children to arrive on time, be a part of the daily
arrival routine, and be present for every moment of classroom routine and
instructional time. It helps kids get their day off to a great start if
they are on time.

Spring Festival April 22, 2006
Spring Festival forms were sent home today from PTO. The registration forms
for The Patterson Prowl Fun Run/Walk need to be filled out and money sent
to the front office. You may also send in the ticket pre-order forms for
the festival. If you pre-order you may purchase 5 tickets for $1.00. The
day of the festival tickets are 4 for $1.00. Please make sure to put the
forms and money in separate envelopes.
To make the festival a success, we need everyone to help by volunteering to
set-up, clean-up or work in one of our booths. Please choose at least one
time to help. When we work together good things happen. If you have any
questions please feel free to call Leigh Anne Chapman at 878-8534.

Class Picture Day
Class Pictures will be taken on Friday, April 14th. The cost is $10.00 and
checks are made out to Leonards. Additional order forms are available in
the front office and need to be turned in to the office by the end of the
day on Friday.
McCASKILL'S CORNER
We have completed the SAT/10 testing for this year with the 1st and 2nd
graders. Thank you parents for making sure your child was well rested and
to school on time. We are still having some problems with parents dropping
students off in the front of the school. We ask that you please either
drop them off in the back of the school or park in a designated spot for
visitors and/or parents and walk your child across the sidewalk. There is
still a lot of information that the teachers need to impart with your
children. Please make sure that they are in school daily and on time. We
appreciate your support and cooperation. “Together, We Make Our School A
SUCCESS!” Have a Great Weekend!

NEWS FROM COACH LANG
Great work Chaires!!! We raised $2100.00 during our walkathon this year.
All of the money will go toward new equipment, tools and supplies for Art,
Music, Science and Phys. Ed. Thank you for all your wonderful support and
keep walking!

SCIENCE FAIR NEWS
The Chaires Science Fair will be held Monday and Tuesday, April 24th and
25th this year. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be required to
participate. Kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd graders may choose to
participate. Any student can get a Science Fair packet from the front
office or Mrs. Perez. You can access our school's website for Science
links, and many useful ideas at http//www.chaires.leon.k12.fl.us

Take Your Child to Work Day
The annual "Take our Sons and Daughters to Work" day will be held on April
27th. Leon County Schools will allow participation in this event for
children in grades 3-8. We must receive a pre-approved letter from the
parent and/or guardian indicating that their child will be participating in
this event. The employer must provide the school with a written statement
on company letterhead verifying the student's attendance.

National Achievers Society
Applications are now being accepted for the Spring Induction of the
Tallahassee Area Coalition Center of Excellence (COE) National Achievers
Society (NAS). Application packets are available in the front office. The
application deadline is Monday, April 24, 2006.
