PRINCIPAL’S PAWSE
Welcome to the 2006-07 school year at Chaires. We continue to be an “A”
school in an “A” community, thanks to the wonderful support that the
parents provide to our school! As we begin a new school year, we need to
ask your assistance providing a safe environment for all students at
Chaires. If I can ever be of assistance, feel free to call me (878-8534)
or email me ([log in to unmask]).

At Chaires, we are GROWING, so it is very important for all of us to work
together as we get our drop off and pick up procedures established.

Main Building Car Drop Off
Parents dropping off children in the morning should pull as far forward as
possible (this allows many cars to unload at the same time). Children
should ONLY exit the car on the curb side of the vehicle. Adults are on
duty to supervise children exiting cars and getting on the sidewalks so
there is no need for parents to exit the vehicles.

Little Chaires Car Drop Off
Parents dropping off children in the morning or picking up children in the
afternoon should pull forward in the lane closest to the school. Children
should only exit the car on the curb side of the vehicle. Adults are on
duty to supervise children exiting the cars and entering the building so
there is no need for parents to exit the vehicles.

Please Do Not Park and Enter the Building without Signing In at the Main
Office First
Because we are such a LARGE school this year, we are utilizing nearly every
parking space for our faculty and staff members whose arrival times are
staggered between 7:00-7:30 a.m. Please do NOT park in spaces unless they
are designated as visitor/mentor spaces, otherwise we will have a problem
with a staff member not arriving on duty in time to safely supervise the
children.
Any visitors, parents, PTO members or mentors should ALWAYS check in at the
office in the MAIN BUILDING prior to visiting a classroom – even at
dismissal time – in order to get a visitor’s badge. That way we are able
to screen and identify each person on campus. Thank you for your
assistance.

CLEMONS' CORNER
We would like to introduce you to a new system our school has acquired to
help protect your children—it’s called V-soft. V-soft helps track visitors,
students, faculty, contractors and volunteers at our school, thus providing
a safer more monitored environment for the students. When visitors,
volunteers or contractors check-in, or parents come to pick up students
during the school day, they will be asked to present a valid state issued
ID for entering into the system. The system has the ability to provide
alerts on people who may jeopardize the safety of the campus.
We feel certain this will help us keep our campus a little safer, and ask
for your cooperation in presenting your valid state issued ID when checking
in at the school. Thank you in advance for your help in keeping all of our
children as safe as possible!

PE News from Coach Escobedo
I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new P.E.
teacher at Chaires Elementary. I come to Chaires with 11 years experience
as a P.E. teacher in Miami, Florida. As a graduate of FSU, my wife and 2
children enjoy attending FSU athletic events. I will be working along with
Coach Lang and we hope to make this year very enjoyable for all our
students. Please remember to have your child wear tennis shoes on their
scheduled P.E. days.

Change of Clothes
This message is for the parents of our younger students. You will want to
be sure that your child has a seasonal change of clothes in their backpack
in the event of an emergency. We do not keep any extra clothes in the
clinic.

Special Thanks
We would like to give a great big thanks to Girl Scout Troop 663 for the
welcome back sign they made for the teachers. Also Boy Scout Pack 25 for
did a wonderful job painting the benches at Chaires East.

Good News At Chaires

Fifth Grade Dismissal Helpers
Mrs. Moss is so proud of all of the fifth grade students who volunteered
and helped with kindergarten dismissal this week. It was so nice to see
older children escorting our youngest to the busses. What a wonderful way
to start the school year! Helpers included: Jessica Andrews, Charlie
Noble, Justin Janicki, Brittany Smelt, Austin Pompey, Jacob Smith, Marketta
Powell, Raystazeia Brown, Baron Adams, Samuel Matteo, Garrett McGhin,
Jordan Lingar, Charda Freeman, Jamal Aktab, Delysia Davis, Cassidy Noakes,
Stuart Garrity, and Brittany White.

Awards
This is the section of the newsletter where we regularly post student and
class accomplishments. Please be sure to "stay tuned" for more good news!
We've included below many of the incentives that we have for students.

Citizens of the Week
One student from each class is honored each Friday as student of the week
based on the caring message and character trait emphasized on the morning
announcements. Names are announced on Friday's morning announcements and
students are given a pencil, ribbon and certificate from our Principal,
Mrs. Moss.

Spirit Award
Each week we will take a count on Friday's to see which class has the most
school spirit. The following Monday, we will announce the spirit winners
from each grade level.

Golden Spoon Awards
We will have the "Golden Spoon Award" for one class at each grade level at
the end of each month. This award goes to the class with the best
lunchroom behavior for the month. Work together as a table and as a class
so that you can win the Golden Spoon Award!
