This HOT OFF THE PRESSES!
I would like to congratulate our School Related Employee of the Year: Rosa
Robinson and our Teacher of the Year: Elaine Padgett. We announced to
them by surprising Rosa with her daughter (Myra Harp) and grand daughter
presenting the balloons! We TRIED to surprise Elaine, but on her way to
the library, she caught us in the act. But, her husband, Ed, was here to
join in the celebration.

Thanks to ALL of our faculty and staff for their tireless work and
dedicated efforts to always help our children be the best they can be!
That's why this is the best school in the county!

M. L. King Celebration
Congratulations to two wonderful students who have been selected to
represent Chaires Elementary School at the 2004 Rev. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Commemorative Breakfast on Friday, January 16th. These students were
selected because the fifth grade team of teachers felt that each of them,
on a daily basis, represents what Dr. King taught regarding peace.

Nathaniel Harris- Mrs. Derrenberger, Nathaniel’s fifth grade teacher
writes: “Nathaniel Harris is a delightful young man and I expect great
things from him. He is always polite, even when he does something wrong
and is corrected. He looks out for others and their feelings. A good
example of this is was how he responded to his younger brother during
our ‘Thanksgiving Breakfeast.’ He made sure his little brother had a
place to sit (sometimes on his lap!) and had plenty of food. He also
tries to do his very best academically, always trying to improve himself.
I feel he would make Dr. King proud, as he does his parents, myself, and
his school.”

Cameron Wilkins- Mrs. Horne, Cameron's fifth grade teacher
writes: "Cameron Wilkins was chosen to represent Chaires Elementary
because he is an outstanding student and citizen. Cameron is on the high
honor roll and is always very conscientious of his responsibilities. He is
a considerate, kind and caring young man who always takes time to help a
friend or work with a younger student. Cameron is also involved in outside
activities such as playing football for a Country Club and basketball for
the Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Department. Cameron always strives to
resolve all problems or situations in a quiet and fair way so that there
are never any unnecessary feelings hurt or conflicts not resolved. I
believe that Cameron exhibits the values that Dr. King taught through his
outstanding example of academic achievement and community involvement, he's
an incredible young man who I believe Dr. King would be proud of.”
