CHANGE OF CLOTHES
This message is for the parents of our younger students. You will want to
be sure that your child has a seasonal change of clothes in their backpack
in the event of an emergency. We are very limited to the extra clothes
that we have available in the clinic. This will be very helpful to us!

MANY THANKS!
We would like to extend a big thank you to Lynn and Rose from Brian
Barnard's Flooring America and David at Home Depot for their generous
donation of 120 carpet squares that we will be using in P.E. class. This
will help the students keep their clothes clean

MRS. MCCASKILL’S CORNER
The Florida statutes established School Advisory Councils at each of the
state's public schools. The councils must be representative of each
school's community and they must include parents, teachers, administrators,
business people, and other community members. A majority of the members of
each school advisory council must be persons who are not employed at the
school. These councils play an integral part in implementing Florida's
System of School Improvement and Accountability at the school level.
School Advisory Councils assist in developing school improvement plans
based on a needs assessment that addresses their school’s status in
relation to the state's goals. The plans, using local guidelines, are
submitted to the school board for approval. Lottery funds will be withheld
from any school district not having an approved plan for each of its
schools. The state's role is to set standards and
measure results, while the process used to achieve those results is a local
decision.
We need your help! If you are interested in being a member of the Chaires
Elementary School Advisory Council, please call the office. Our first SAC
meeting will be held on MONDAY, AUGUST 22nd at 5:30 in the Media Center.
Last year, we met on the Monday evening prior to the District Advisory
Council Meeting (held on the first Thursday of each month.)

Good News At Chaires - Student names will not be listed on the email
version of the newsletter.

Fifth Grade Dismissal Helpers
Mrs. Moss is so proud of all of the fifth grade students who volunteered
and helped with kindergarten dismissal this week. It was so nice to see
older children escorting our youngest to the buses. Not a single
kindergarten student got "lost", "misplaced," or missed a bus under their
care. What a wonderful way to start the school year! Thanks for all your
help.

Awards
This is the section of the newsletter where we regularly post student and
class accomplishments. Please be sure to "stay tuned" for more good news!
We've included below many of the incentives that we have for students.

Citizens of the Week
One student from each class is honored each Friday as student of the week
based on the caring message and character trait emphasized on the morning
announcements. Names are announced on Friday's morning announcements and
students are given a pencil, ribbon and certificate from our Principal Mrs.
Moss.

Spirit Stick Award
Each week we will take a count on Friday's to see which class has the most
school spirit. The following Monday, we will announce the winner of the
spirit stick on the Panther Pawse Morning Announcements. The class with
the spirit stick will have the honor of the spirit stick for the entire
week!

Golden Spoon Awards
We will have the "Golden Spoon Award" for one class at each grade level at
the end of each month. This award goes to the class with the best
lunchroom behavior for the month. Work together as a table and as a class
so that you can win the Golden Spoon Award!
