PRINCIPAL’S PAWS
I hope you saw your child’s report card on Wednesday this week. If not,
please dig through that backpack, find a small brown folder and peek
inside. I think you’ll like what you see! For the most part, I was
extremely impressed with the progress that our children are making this
school year. Considering the disruption we’ve had with hurricane days, I
was very pleased with the attendance, behavior, work/study habits, and
grades. Remember, if you have any questions regarding the report card,
please contact your child’s teacher. Also, if you haven’t had a chance to
have a conference during the school year, PLEASE contact your child’s
teacher to set one up right away. We need to be sure that you are aware of
the promotion requirements that will apply at the end of the year. As
always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to
call or email me!

MRS. MCCASKILL’S CORNER
Parents, thank you so much for being so cooperative and understanding about
your children's safety at school. We are still encouraging you to
volunteer at school. Your children are doing a great job in their
classrooms. We want you to come and see some of the fantastic things that
are taking place in the classrooms. Just a reminder! If you have not had a
parent/teacher conference with your child's teacher, please call and set
up one. Our teachers are more than happy to talk to you about your
children and their progress. We ask that you continue to encourage, assist
with homework, and read to your children every day. "Stay strong and be
encouraged."

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Thank you to all the parents and PTO members who made our Field Day such a
GREAT SUCCESS! The children had a wonderful time cheering for their
classmates during the games. We also enjoyed the Gatorade that was
provided by Mr. Burk for the hydration station.

CALENDAR CHANGE
The Leon County School Board has voted that we need to make up class time
lost during our three hurricane days. In order to make up the time, 4
early release days will be cancelled. The only Early Release Days that
will be on the 2004-2005 school calendar are December 17th and May 27th
with release time at 11:20am.

AWARDS ASSEMBLIES

Thursday, November 4th in the cafeteria. (8:00am-Kindergarten & 1st grade:
8:45am-4th & 5th grade: 9:30am-2nd & 3rd grade.) Not every child will
receive an award, but it’s a great time for us to recognize the
achievement, effort, and improvement for many children. It’s also a great
time-at the start of a new grading period- to encourage ALL students to set
goals for next time!

nine week grading period:

Good News At Chaires
Citizen’s of the Week
Congratulations to the Citizens of the Week. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Spirit Award
Congratulations to the entire student body for showing their school spirit
on Friday, October 22nd. The tie-dyed t-shirts worn for field day looked
awesome.

Morning Announcement Helpers
We would like to thank the students who helped deliver morning
announcements from Mrs. Walker’s fourth grade class the week of October
18th. WAY TO GO!

Attendance Awards
In an effort to cut down on children being late to school, we are giving
attendance awards each month. We will choose two classes (1 in primary, 1
in secondary) who have the least amount of unexcused tardies or unexcused
leaving earlies for the month. For the month of September the winning
classes were, Mrs. Laney with only 2 tardies and Mrs. Coleman with only 4
tardies. These classes enjoyed a cupcake treat on Monday provided by
Publix at the Vineyards, one of our school partners.

Student Council News
Thank you to all the parents and students who sent in items for the
hurricane victims. We have collected 20 large bags of clothing to send to
Red Cross who will distribute to our Florida neighbors.
Also, thank you to everyone who sent in items for us to send to the
servicemen in Iraq. The box is overflowing with books, magazines, gum and
many other treats. I’m sure they will enjoy receiving a goodie box from
their friends at Chaires.
