Goodwill Clothing Drive
Student Services is the proud recipient of 700 - $35.00 shopping vouchers from Goodwill
Industries. These vouchers will be distributed by district school social workers to our families in
need. Each voucher allows a parent to shop at any community Goodwill store for clothing and
other appropriate items for his/her children.

In support of this project, Superintendent Pons has approved district-wide participation in the
Students Helping Students Through Goodwill Clothing Drive. During designated dates, students
may collect clothing items (laundered, please, if used) from home and bring them to school for
collection by Goodwill. (Please note that the focus of this project is clothing only, and not other
household items or food.) The dates for Canopy Oaks will be November 15th and 16th. You will
receive a Goodwill bag for your items.

Order your yearbook now!!!
Yearbooks are available to order for $15.00 through Dec. 14th, after Dec. 14th the cost will be

Yearbook Art Contest
We are having another yearbook art contest for the cover of the yearbook. Top winners will see
their artwork on the cover of the 2007/2008 COE Yearbook!! All students, Pre-K through 5th
grade are eligible to participate. Draw, paint or color a scene or object related to the “Canopy
Oaks, Celebrating 10 Years” theme. You can use markers, crayons, paints or colored pencils - the
bolder the color the better!! The art must be on a clean sheet of 8.5 X 11 white paper, please do
not fold the paper. Write your name, grade & teacher's name on the back. All artwork must be
received by Nov. 16th!!!

Nutrition Tips
Thanksgiving can be healthy: Did you know that turkey is one of the most nutritious meats you
can eat? It has more protein and calcium, and less fat, calories, and sodium than other meats.
The white meat (without the skin) is the healthiest way to enjoy turkey. If you like the other parts,
just be sure to be careful how much you have.

Physical Activity Tips
Find a convenient time and place to do activities.
Try to make it a habit, but be flexible. If you miss an exercise opportunity, work activity into your
day another way.
