Parents, please encourage your junior and senior students to sign up and
participate in the ASVAB Career Exploration Program. This is a VOCATIONAL
APTITUDE TEST and could greatly benefit our students as they make
decisions about what to major in at college, what job areas they are best
suited for, and exactly what are their interests and career goals.

Students can sign up in the guidance office and receive a copy of the
Student and Parent Guide to review prior to the test.

The test will be administered at the auditorium, first block on 16
November 2004.

Purpose: To provide Godby students the opportunity to learn “more about
themselves, to identify and explore potentially satisfying occupations,
and develop an effective strategy to realize their goals.”

Godby will be offering the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude
Battery) test to any student who wants to know more about their skills and
competencies and how those relate to careers and job opportunities.

The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is designed to help students learn
more about themselves and the world of work, to identify and explore
potentially satisfying occupations, and develop an effective strategy to
realize their goals.

Research has shown that students who participate in the ASVAB Career
Exploration Program experience less career indecision, enjoy greater
confidence in making career decisions, and consider more thoughtfully
their options than do students who do not participate in this program.
