The purpose of this letter is to inform you Ghazvini Learning Center, Success Academy and Second Chance Schools will begin fall testing on November 27th. The tentative dates can be found at the end of the letter.

In accordance HB 1069 (2023), Leon County School Board has approved the attached process for those parents that would like to limit their child’s access to media center and classroom libraries.

Only parents that want to limit their child’s access will need to complete the FOCUS form. LCS plans to open Media Centers for student check out on Monday, August 14th. If you plan to limit your child’s access please complete form as soon as possible. The directions for completing the FOCUS form are on the attached form.

This week we have two special events on the calendar for our students: on Thursday students will watch Remember the Titans and on Friday we have our annual Black History Month program. The purpose of this letter is to inform you that some students will take the computer-based FSA ELA Writing and Reading Retake and/or FSA Algebra 1 End-of-Course (EOC) Retake assessment(s) from February 21st until the 23rd and February 27th and 28th. The FSA ELA Retake is administered over three days and consists of one 120-minute ELA Writing session and two 90-minute ELA Reading sessions. Next week is Spirit Week at Success Academy and Second Chance! We have themed dress down days planned each day and will have special treats for students Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. It's time to update your students' Focus picture! Second Chance will be holding a picture day on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. You may dress out of uniform on this day, but you must follow the LCS Dress Code Policy. You may NOT wear open-toed shoes, crocs, camo, hoodies, or leggings. Failure to follow dress code measures may result in disciplinary action. These will be in-house pictures so there will not be an opportunity to purchase them. *Family Empowerment Scholarship

On May 11, 2021, Governor DeSantis signed House Bill 7045 into law, resulting in several
changes to the state funded scholarship programs, including an extensive expansion of the
Family Empowerment Scholarship Program. House Bill 7045 expanded the Family
Empowerment Scholarship Program to include two branches of eligibility, the Family
Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options and the Family Empowerment Scholarship
for Students with Disabilities.

Free meals for all students

This year, all students may eat in the cafeteria at no charge. Students will need to use their lunch PIN which can be found in FOCUS in “My Info” under the “Classified” tab.

As we plan on welcoming our students back in class tomorrow, and in order to keep ALL students and staff safe, we are requiring Pre-K to 12th grade to wear face masks while indoors and on buses.
