Yesterday, the Florida Department Of Education released "Informational" school grades based on data from the 2022-2023 school year. These grades are only informational as schools implemented new testing formats (FAST). Although this data is only informational, Swift Creek earned an "A" grade for the 2022-2023 data year! The grade is a reflection of the hard work, effort, and dedication of our students, parents, teachers, and community members. I am so proud of everyone! Let's do it again this year!

To LCS parents and school communities—

As Americans living in the melting pot of the world, nearly all of us have a connection to the global community, as well as to past and current events happening around the world. These connections may cause us to feel strongly one way or the other with regard to global conflicts, such as the ones presently occurring in the Middle East, Ukraine, and elsewhere. Our students are witnessing the division on all sides, and of course have their own opinions and reflections.

With the continued eastern shift of Ian's path, Leon County is no longer projected to receive tropical storm force winds and the amount of anticipated rain has been reduced. Good evening, Wolves!

I appreciate your patience as we finalized our master schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. At this time, schedules are visible through FOCUS. While reviewing these schedules, please review course assignments carefully. Teachers and room numbers are visible, but not finalized. There are additional staffing updates that will be made over the next week that may change teaching information, but the course assignment by period should not change.

Good afternoon, Wolves!

I apologize for my earlier communication last Thursday regarding schedules. After an update from the district, we learned that FOCUS will not be available for schedule review until Monday 8/1, at the earliest. Once schedules are available, I will send another list serv which will include steps to request modifications to current schedules. Fortunately, we still have almost two weeks to address questions or concerns prior to the start of the school year.

Hello Parents/Guardians -
There is some police activity at Tom Brown park so out of an abundance of caution Swift Creek Middle School will be in a "lock-out" until the all clear is given from law enforcement. We will remain indoors and we will let you know when this is over.

SCMS Parents/Guardian, What a great final day of our 21-22 school year! I want to thank you for your support this year as we worked together to support our students' growth academically, socially, emotionally and also within their character.

Yesterday I was given a retirement farewell party by our faculty, staff and administration. It was an event that I will forever remember and cherish. One of the most valuable gifts I received was a box of notes from our students. I so look forward to reading these during my retirement and being reminded of my wolf pack family - a

Today I shared with our faculty/staff/administration that I have made the decision to retire at the end of this school year. Though my family has encouraged me to do this for a while, it has not been until recently that I have felt at peace in making this decision. SCMS Families, please note there is an inaccurate article in the Tallahassee Democrat today regarding learning opportunities at all Leon County schools this summer. The article states that this opportunity is for all students. This is not accurate. The additional weeks of instruction over the summer are being provided to the students with the greatest gaps in their learning. This is an invitation only camp with first invitations going out to students who have scored a Level 1 on FSA 2021 in either or both ELA and math. If there are remaining openings they will then go to those students

All bus routes are being split.
All bus routes will run late, we haven't been provided with estimated times.

We continue to have issues with lunches being brought in or delivered to our campus for students from outside companies (Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc). If a student forgets their lunch, one will be provided for them. Remember all students eat free this school year.

The only time to bring lunch from outside sources would be for their birthday, and if so, that the lunch would be provided for that student only. Please make sure it is here in time for their specific lunch period. In addition it should be noted lunches will be kept until the end of

Hello Wolf Parents,

We are quickly approaching our BIGGEST fundraiser of the year. The Spring Auction is on April 8. We have collected a total value of $3000 in items so far, but we are only HALFWAY to our goal. We still need more items to make this a successful event. The funds raised will enable us to achieve our initiatives to support Swift Creek Middle School including installation of touchless water stations in each of the buildings, new basketball goals in the refurbished gym, more school wide book reads, and a new outdoor classroom.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In an effort to improve our schools, the Leon County School District is conducting a 2022 Spring Parent/Guardian Climate Survey. We value your opinion and ask that you please take the time to complete this survey based upon your experiences at your child’s school. If you have children at multiple school sites (example – one child in elementary school and one child in high school), we respectfully ask that you complete one survey for each school. If your children attend Ft. Braden or Woodville K – 8 School you only need to complete one survey.

SCMS Family, LCS is significantly short-staffed related to school bus drivers. Until the end of the school year we could continue to have days when routes will have to be consolidated. This will lead to buses leaving our campus much later than scheduled and students arriving to their drop-off points later than planned.

Families, thank you for your patience today. We have had two routes that had to be absorbed into other routes. As of now ALL routes have left SCMS except for half of route 219 and all of route 223. We will let you know when these students have left our campus.

School Choice for 22-23 CLOSES on March 1, 2022! If you have further questions after reading the information below refer to the LCS School Choice webpage at https://www.leonschools.net/Domain/6041

SCMS Parents/Guardians, If your SCMS school choice student is presently in 6th or 7th grade they DO NOT need to reapply for school choice for 22-23. If your school choice student is a current 8th grader YOU WILL need to reapply for school choice if you are seeking admittance into a high school that your child is not currently zoned for!

Please see the important message below from our SCMS School Resource Deputy (SRD), Paul Pacchioli! Sue Rishell, SCMS Principal

Summer is quickly approaching!!! The Leon County Sheriff's Office will be putting on our annual Adventure Camp this summer. I have attached this year's application for Adventure Camp. The boy's camp is June 6th-10th and girl's camp is June 13th-17th. This year the age range will be current 5th graders to current 8th graders (so they will be incoming 6th-9th grade). Can you please pass this on to our parents? This camp is put on free of charge to the parents.

About SAIL High School
SAIL was founded in the belief that all students can learn and succeed when provided a learning environment that meets their needs and interests. SAIL emphasizes individualization, democratic decision making, and application of academics and creative electives in a humanistic atmosphere.
Students must meet the same credit and grading requirements as other Leon County High School students. However, the approach is an ever evolving dynamic one that capitalizes on the talents and interests of a diverse staff and student body.

Route 212 will not be transporting students today. We have been asked to divide this route into two separate routes. Those students that get off at Mahan/Day Lilly, Mahan/Brewster and Mahan/Champagne have left SCMS already on Route 206. The remaining stops are waiting for Route 219 to return to SCMS to pick them up and deliver them home. Our students should be picked up by 4:30 to go home but we will send a ListServ to verify the time they leave our campus.

SCMS Family, Thank you so very much for your support of our recent Second Harvest food drive! SCMS donated 905 lbs. of food to meet the food shortage within our community!! We also want to thank those families that were able to take part in our Fall Family Night last Friday night! It was a WONDERFUL family and community time, sponsored by our own SCMS PTSO, and based on the positive feedback, an event that may become an annual occurrence!
