Leon County will be offering 2 Free ACT test prep bootcamps for the June and July national ACT test. Together with our very own licensed clinical social worker, Tiffany Martin, SAIL High school is kicking off a month-long plan to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and highlight ways mental health affects all of us. SAIL's National Honor Society club is hosting a peanut butter and jelly drive in conjunction with WCTV, Leon County Schools and Second Harvest of the Big Bend. PBJ PLZ is designed to help children in the summer months when they do not have access to free meals at school. The donations will also help to stock school pantries that are up and running in Leon County Schools. Please help us support this drive and bring all donations to the front office. You can also scan the code, to make a monetary donation as well.

Leon County Summer Training Program

It’s that time again for the Leon County Summer Training Program! This program is designed to provide valuable employment skills to students between the ages 14 to 24 who reside in Leon County while earning an income. This year Leon County Government has partnered with CareerSource Capital Region to offer participants more professional development opportunities through the Learn, Earn and Advance Program (LEAP). Graduating Seniors and Early Grads. (Graduating as a Junior)

Tallahassee Community College is hosting a TCC Preview Day for all graduating high school seniors and early graduating juniors on Friday, February 23, 2024. The purpose of this one-day event is to provide students with an opportunity to learn about postsecondary college and career options through experiential learning. We have reserved 50 spots. Field Trip forms are available from Mrs. John in the front office. The deadline to submit completed field trip forms to Mrs. John has been extended to Friday, February 16th at noon! In reading an article by USAA, it challenges us to “Go Beyond Thanks”. Today, if an opportunity presents itself, go beyond thanks and small talk to try and connect with a veteran on a deeper level. In recognition of Veteran’s Day, we will have members of the armed services on campus during lunch time to offer information on military careers for interested students. We will have recruiters from the Army, Navy, and Marines present. They will be set in the courtyard from 11:35am – 12:15pm for interest students to visit with them.

Seniors: All Florida Virtual School (FLVS) or Leon County Virtual School (LCVS) courses must be finished by December 15, in order for the grade to be entered on the SAIL transcript and included in the grade point average (GPA) that determines your final class ranking.

SAIL High School will administer the PSAT/NMSQT on Tuesday, October 24th and Wednesday, October 25th to ALL 10th graders and REGISTERED 11th Graders.

This test is administered ONLINE and testing students should bring their charged Chromebooks.
Testing begins at 8:05 am and will last approximately 3 hours. Testing Dates and locations for students will be posted the week prior to testing.

Disability History and Awareness Weeks

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) asks all public schools to thoughtfully consider observing Disability History and Awareness Weeks, which begins on October 3, 2022, throughout the first two weeks of October of each year. As a reminder, students will be attending the annual Wakulla Springs field trip! All students who have submitted signed permission forms need to ensure that they bring a change of clothes and additional money if they wish to purchase snacks from the Snack Shop. Pizza and drinks will be provided for lunch -- however, students are more than welcome to bring their own lunch if necessary. Students who are not attending the trip will participate in a few creative activities on campus.

Delta Academy strives to enrich and enhance the education that our young ladies grades 6-8 receive in schools. A primary goal of Delta Academy is to prepare young girls for full participation as leaders in the 21st century.

Important Tropical Storm Idalia Update:

SAIL High School will be open under normal operating hours tomorrow, but we will be closed on Wednesday, August 30. Afterschool activities for tomorrow will remain open until 6:00 pm.

Each year we have a series of Emergency Drills that we practice with students and staff to ensure we are best prepared during the event of an emergency. We conduct drills such as: Fire, Lockdown, Lockout, and Tornado drills. Chromebooks will be distributed to students on Tuesday August 15th. If a student is absent, they will need to see Benny in Computer Lab 3 to receive a Chromebook. Students are responsible for their Chromebook AND the charger.

Hello SAIL Families!!

Attendance is particularly important at SAIL. It is a critical component of our hands-on approach to learning. To reinforce good attendance, we offer the possibility of Intensive preference, pizza parties, and other rewards to students who have great attendance (plus good academics and discipline record). For non-attendance, we utilize a “conferencing approach” instead of an automatic failure policy. However, SAIL is a magnet school and part of electing to come to SAIL is your agreement to participate. Attendance is participation. We expect our students to be present on campus every day!

I hope everyone had a good first week back to school. It was great seeing new to SAIL students and our returning students back on campus. During these first two days of school teachers reviewed school and classroom policies and procedures, we had grade level meeting groups, and even a chance for students to sign up for clubs. In accordance HB 1069 (2023), Leon County School Board has approved the attached process for those parents that would like to limit their child's access to media center and classroom libraries.

Only parents that want to limit their child's access through, Parent/guardian Permission, will need to complete the FOCUS form. LCS plans to open Media Centers for student check out on Monday, August 14th. If you plan to limit your child's access please complete form as soon as possible. The directions for completing the FOCUS form are on the attached form.

Hello SAIL Community,

Our campus and front office will be closed next week, from July 3rd – July 7th. We will resume our summer hours the following week, July 10th: Monday – Thursday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Report Cards: Final report cards have not been processed yet due to the district not having all of the state assessment results from DOE. Final grades are being posted for courses in non-EOC subject areas, so you might see 2nd semester grades showing in Parent Portal. However, overall GPA's and transcripts for non-graduated students are not finalized.

This morning before school started there was a loud noise in the neighborhood off campus, similar to a transformer popping. The students on campus were asked to report to the cafeteria until we could survey the area for safety. No law enforcement was involved and the source was unconfirmed. Monday, May 15 - FAST Assessment (ELA/Reading)

Our 9th students will be taking the FAST Assessment this week. This will be the 3rd administration of this assessment, which measures student achievement and growth over the course of the academic year. Today, freshmen will be assessed for ELA/Reading. Lively will be hosting several open house events over the next few weeks, including an introduction to their Aviation, Airframe, and Powerplant Mechanics program. This is an excellent opportunity for all SAIL students, as we offer dual enrollment courses at Lively for students interested in technical fields.
