Dear Parents/Guardians,

In an effort to improve our schools, the Leon County School District is conducting a 2022 – 2023 Fall Parent/Guardian Climate Survey. We value your opinion and ask that you please take the time to complete this survey based upon your experiences at your child’s school. If you have children at multiple school sites (example – one child in elementary school and one child in high school), we respectfully ask that you complete one survey for each school. If your children attend Ft. Braden or Woodville K – 8 School you only need to complete one survey.

Dear Leon County Schools Families—

This is the last week of Florida Prepaid Enrollment for the 2021 school year. Studies show that children with dedicated college savings are more likely to not only enroll in college, but graduate. This is true even when families have only saved for a portion of their total college expenses. We hope you will take advantage of the college savings Florida Prepaid plans provide for your child(ren).

Since the start of the school year, we’ve been experiencing a number of issue with Zoom. Common errors we have been getting are “Invalid Meeting ID”, “1132 server error”, and choppy audio/video (please be aware that choppy audio/video can also be caused by other issues such as your internet connection).

Parents, if your child is attending Digital Academy and has received a device from their school, please note:

The driver for the Wi-Fi adapter has already been loaded onto the machine. You do NOT need to use the disk to load anything. Simply plug the wi-fi dongle into a usb port and it will work.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In an effort to improve our schools, the Leon County School District is conducting a 2019 Spring Parent/Guardian Climate Survey.

Our team has spent tireless hours caring for evacuees from throughout our state and here locally. Last evening, 11 of our schools hosted 3,000 people in shelters. The administrators at those schools never hesitated to step up. Staff from throughout the school district volunteered their time and materials to ensure that things ran as smoothly as possible.

Parents,

Over the next few weeks, we anticipate receiving both electronic and paper copies of student performance on the Spring 2015 FSA state assessment. Once we receive the paper copies of the individual score reports from the Department of Education, we will be sending them home with students. Our goal is to send these reports homes with the first quarter report card at the end of October.

The Department of Education is holding three public meetings on the state's mathematics and English language arts standards, as directed in a recent executive order from Gov. Rick Scott. However, that's not the only way of making your voices heard about what's going on in your child's classrooms. You can let your voice be heard by attending the meeting in our area, or if you are unable to attend a public meeting, submit your feedback via email or on the designated website.

"Go Pink Day!" October 3rd
We would like to invite the Pineview Elementary School Community to "GO PINK!" with us on October 3rd. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Tallahassee Democrat is asking for everyone in the community to "Go Pink!" in some form or fashion. A great way to "Go Pink!" is to sport pink attire, decorate your automobile or put pink cups along your fence saying "Go Pink!". In addition, the Tallahassee Democrat has a website dedicated to "Go Pink!". If interested, individuals may upload their "Go Pink!" pictures to Tallahassee.com starting October 3rd showing their

MESSAGE TO LCS PARENTS FROM SUPERINTENDENT PONS

Taking pride in our children's schools is an important part of our daily lives in Leon County. School mascots have a critical role in bringing that school pride to life for our students and our teachers, although some of our Leon County Schools mascots have been so well loved over the past years, they could probably use a little TLC.

[cid:image003.jpg@01CEB2A3.59E86960]Parent Communication Update: A friendly reminder to parents:
Please, be reminded that when contacting faculty and staff members via email or phone, that LCS policy allows a 24 hours response period for the faculty/staff member to return their email or call. If, you have an emergency or transportation change, please, call the front office directly. Our teachers are busy teaching class. They often have to wait to read e-mails or collect messages until the school day is over. This is a district policy and appropriate response time. We would really appreciate your patience and understanding with this matter.

Parents,

The Transportation staff is asking for your patience this afternoon. All buses will be running a little late due to the current weather conditions. We are asking the drivers to drive a little slower. We are working with the school staff to assure that all of the students board the correct bus for their trip home.
