There will be a big change coming with how you receive schoolwide information!

Leon County School District will no longer be utilizing the LISTSERV platform for mass messaging. The district has received communication from Google/Yahoo that they are implementing enhanced security, which will block spoofed email addresses from bulk email message providers beginning in February. This means the continued use of our ListServ will not deliver essential messages to all intended recipients once Google/Yahoo completes this implementation.

This is an update to information shared previously about Hurricane Idalia.

Leon County Schools will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Leon County Schools is hosting 7 shelters open to the community for individuals needing to evacuate. These shelters are located at Chiles High School, Fairview Middle School, Ft. Braden K-8 school, Godby High School, Lincoln High School, Rickards High School, and SAIL High School. Leon County Schools will be open on Tuesday, August 29 and closed on Wednesday, August 30.

Additionally, our STAR testing for Grades 1-2 and 3-5 FAST PM1 (Reading) testing scheduled for Wednesday, August 30 has been canceled. We will communicate a new date for these tests in the near future.

We anticipate school being open on Thursday. As of now, the testing scheduled for Thursday, August 31 (3-5 PM 1 Math) will remain as scheduled.

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a decision-making group made-up of school administrators, teachers, parents, community members, and other stakeholders. 2023 High School Scholarships: revised deadline
The 2023 FSCA Scholarship applications are now available. FSCA will award four high school scholarships in the amount of $250 each. Dear LCVS Families,

The grading windows for virtual schools, including Leon County Virtual School, work differently than in brick and mortar. Virtual schools are completion models. This simply means that when the students complete the segment of a course, they are then awarded a grade. During the COVID pandemic we managed grading at virtual school differently with the increased movement of students between brick and mortar and virtual school. However, we are now back to our regular grading system where we will only post grades in Focus at the end of a semester or when a student finishes a course.

The state of Florida introduced the new state testing and progress monitoring system this year called Florida’s Assessment of Student Thinking or F.A.S.T. While we value the intent of these assessments, and will utilize data to provide additional supports for students, this is the first year and we are all learning. Our goal at LCVS is to assess 100% of our students so that we can ensure each student has what they need to be successful! Students registered for the July 16th ACT test at Lincoln High School that was postponed – IT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULE AT Lincoln High for this Saturday, July 23 at the normal time.

The students who were registered for the Lincoln site originally will just need to show up with their proper identification. The admissions ticket that they may have printed out for last Saturday is the same as for this Saturday. Sometimes, students print an admissions ticket from MyACT to bring with them to the site. Please remember that students must request their test scores (ACT/SAT) to be sent to at least one FL four-year public institution for the scores to enter the test repository and to be received by Bright Futures.

If you qualified via the "super score" method (i.e. math on SAT from one test date and English based reading and writing from another test date) be sure that both of these scores have been sent to at least one Florida four year public institution for them to be picked up by Bright Futures.
