As you are aware, our school will be closed today as we brace for any possible impacts caused by Hurricane Idalia. Our district has also made the decision to keep schools closed on Thursday, August 30.

Once the storm passes, LCS staff will evaluate any impact to our schools and make a determination for school operations on Friday.

In accordance with HB 1069 (2023), Leon County School Board has approved the attached process for those parents that would like to limit their child's access to media center and classroom libraries.

Only parents that want to limit their child's access, through Parent/Guardian Permission, will need to complete the FOCUS form. LCS plans to open Media Centers for student check out on Monday, August 14th. If you plan to limit your child's access, please complete the form as soon as possible. The directions for completing the FOCUS form are on the attached documents.

This week we completed the end-of-year Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) for Reading and Math for all grade levels.

For grades 3-5: scores are available in the Focus Parent Portal. (If your student has not yet completed FAST, their score will appear 24 hours after they complete their assessment.) An Individual Student Report (ISR) including a longitudinal chart will be available in the Parent Portal in early August.

The Florida Department of Education has updated the names and coding of events that are to be reported in the School Environmental Safety Incident Reporting (hereafter referred to as SESIR.) SESIR pertains to safety incidents that occur on campus. SESIR events are not exclusive to students, and anyone who commits a SESIR worthy act on a school campus will have their action listed on that schools SESIR report.
