In order to increase safety measures during our parent pick-up procedures, starting January 8th, when we return from Winter Break, we will have new Parent Pick-Up procedures.

Adults picking up students MUST have a hanging car tag to match the students you are picking up. If you do not have the car tag to match the student, we will not allow the student to get in the car. The adult will need to come in the front office, provide their ID, and be listed on the student's Parent Portal contact list.

The Scholastic Book Fair runs November 6th through November 9th in the FBS Media Center. Please join us this week before school from 7:45-8:30 or after school from 3:00-3:45 to shop with your student. Good morning, Fort Braden Community. The safety of our students is our number one priority each and every day. This morning two very vigilant teachers heard two gunshots in the woods to the west of our school. They immediately reported the incident to administration and the school went into a "lock out" where all students sheltered in place and the perimeter of the school was locked. In an effort to keep students safe in our parking lot, cars must remain in the drop-off line to drop off students. Students should stay in your car until 7:45am when there is supervision in place. This is a friendly reminder regarding our established ID scanning procedure for those wishing to walk their children to their classrooms tomorrow for the first day of school.

Here's a quick refresher on the process:

Bring a Valid ID: Have a valid government-issued ID, such as a driver's license or passport, with you.

In accordance HB 1069 (2023), Leon County School Board has approved the attached process for those parents that would like to limit their child's access to media center and classroom libraries.

Only parents that want to limit their child's access through Parent/guardian Permission, will need to complete the FOCUS form. LCS plans to open Media Centers for student check out on Monday, August 14th. If you plan to limit your child's access please complete form as soon as possible. We are thrilled to announce that the FBS chicken coop is now up and running! Thanks to the generous donation of Mrs. Bush, we now have a wonderful new addition to our campus that we know our students will love.

Our students will have the opportunity to learn about the care and feeding of chickens, the life cycle of birds, and the important role that animals play in our world.

We will have our STEAM Night Wednesday, March 22 from 5:15-7:00. The schedule for the night is as follows:
5:15-6:00 STEAM career presenters & STEAM activities
6:00-7:00 Mars Rover Building with Title 1 Mobile STEM lab

Flyers will be sent home this week and one is also attached. It is very important that you scan the QR code on the flyer and sign up, so we have enough Mars Rover kits!

Good Morning,

We wanted to send a quick email about the dates for implementation of our point of service system (PrimeroEdge) in the cafeteria. Initially, your school was scheduled for a “Go Live” date of February 13th, but as we mentioned in the Principals meeting we had to push that date back to work through some integration issues. Now that those issues have been resolved, we will be going live with the point of service system for our pilot group of schools on Wednesday, March 1st, with everyone else following on March 21st.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news with you. Thanks to the efforts of Farm to Fort and the students of Florida State University, our school campus has recently been enriched with the addition of several new fruit trees.

We are incredibly grateful to the Farm to Fort team and the FSU students for their hard work and dedication in making this possible. We are proud to have these new additions to our campus, and we look forward to watching them grow and flourish.

Our district has been made aware of a civic-engagement event taking place at the Capitol on Wednesday, February 15. Should a parent/legal guardian allow their student to participate in the event, they should follow LCS attendance policies and procedures and sign their student out from school, and/or notify the school of the expected absence and the reason for the absence. Fort Braden will not accept any Valentines Day Packages or deliver any Valentines Day Packages to classrooms on Tuesday, February 14th.

Students should not bring any items such as stuffed animals, balloons, etc. to school. They will not be allowed in classrooms with these items.
