The school was placed on a lockdown today around 12:50 p.m. due to neighborhood activity that posed a potential threat to our campus. Teachers and students followed lockdown and lockout procedures for about 30 minutes. Law enforcement has given us the all clear, and our campus has safely returned to business as usual. We appreciate our teachers, staff, and students for following safety procedures and quickly responding to instructions. Safety is our #1 priority.

The Trent 10K, 5k and 1-Mile Fun Run, January 29, 2022

Roberts Elementary School is proud to host the 12th annual Trent 10K, formerly the Trent Trot in honor of Trent McElroy, a Roberts 4th grader who lost his battle to childhood cancer in 2013. All proceeds from the race go to the Trent’s Touch Foundation which supports local families battling pediatric cancer. The foundation has supported 50+ families so far and receiving applications monthly if not more frequent.

As we look ahead to the second nine weeks of the 21-22 school year with a lower COVID community positivity rate and a lower district positivity rate, we are reinstating the Parent Opt-Out of the temporary mask requirement for Pre-K—8th grade while indoors and on buses, as discussed and approved at Tuesday night’s school board meeting. Leon County Schools in partnership with Edmentum has chosen FEV Tutor to provide you with district-sponsored online homework and coursework help as a support resource this academic year!

Since this is a virtual service, students can access tutoring from anywhere, anytime (24 hours a day/7 days a week) with a computer and an internet connection. It can be a very useful tool to meet the needs of students who are quarantining.

Leon County Schools is EXCITED to share with you that Department of Health has scheduled 2 clinics that will offer the required school physicals and immunizations. This is GREAT NEWS!!! The Department of Health will have 2 School Health Summer Fairs, and will provide FREE Immunization AND a School Physical or Sports Physical. There are limited spaces, Less than 75 appointments at each fair, so you MUST register immediately to get one of these FREE spots. The 1st is June 26th and 2nd is July 31st.

This morning our Leadership Team received an update from the Leon County Department of Health on Covid-19 and the impact it had on our students and employees since we left on December 18th. In the update we were informed that 246 students (.8 percent of all students districtwide) and 58 employees (1.2 percent of all employees) either tested positive or were exposed to someone who was positive over the break

LCS Wellness Wednesday is December 16

In times of uncertainty, unpredictability, and potentially overwhelming stress, it is especially important to deliberately pause to identify resources and activities that can help us maintain our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Superintendent Hanna and the entire LCS family understands that the 2020-2021 school year has presented challenges to students, teachers, and families. Dear Families,

As you may already know, our school uses STAR and iReady Assessments to help teachers understand what students need to know and what they are ready to learn next. Typically, these assessments are given throughout the school year to monitor student progress and are administered in the school setting. Part of our normal testing plan includes a fall baseline assessment. After careful consideration, we have decided to move forward with this plan but will be proctoring the assessment remotely.

It is time to fill our vacant School Advisory Council positions. The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a decision-making group made-up of school administrators, teachers, parents, community members, and other stakeholders.
